The 2^nd International Manga Award

       1.      The International MANGA Award, which was established in May 2007, received 368 entries this year from 46 countries and regions all over the world.  It is planned that the winners of this award will be invited by the Japan Foundation to Japan for 10 days to attend the Award Presentation Ceremony held on 2 September 2008 in Tokyo and the International MANGA Summit in Kyoto as well as to have discussions with Japanese MANGA artists etc.  The followings are the result of the 2^nd International MANGA Award.

 (1)The International MANGA Award Gold Award: (the best work)

                    -Artist: Lau Wan Lit (Hongkong, China) with the work “Feel 100%”

 (2)  The Silver Award (three excellent runners-up):

                   -Artist: Yin Chuan (China) with the work “Elapse”

                   -Artist: Chezhina Svetlana Igorevna (Russia)  with the work “Portrait”

                   -Artist: Alice Picard (France) with the work “Okheania 1”

 2.      Apart from these 4 above-mentioned works, other 12 works  were also awarded, among these, 2 works from Vietnam:

              -  Artist: Truong Quang Toan with the work  “Bi Bo and Kim Quy”

                          -  Artist:Nguyen Thanh Nhan with the work “Unicorn Dance’s Legend”

An awards ceremony and reception will be held on September 2, and Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura is scheduled to present the trophies to the honorees. Over the next ten days, the honorees will also attend the Kyoto Manga Summit and meet with Japanese manga artists.

This year's judges were Machiko Satonaka (Lady Ann), Monkey Punch (Lupin III), Takao Yaguchi (Tsurikichi Sampei), Teruo Miyahara (former Weekly Shonen Magazine editor-in-chief), and Yoriaki Yakubo (former Weekly Shonen Sunday editor-in-chief). A total of 368 entries were submitted from 46 countries. This total included 156 entries from Asia, 66 from the Americas, 114 from Europe, 4 from the Pacific Islands, 23 from the Middle East, and 5 from Africa. Only 222 entries from 22 countries were submitted during the first year of the awards. The countries with the most submissions this year were as follows:

Midorikawa Tsuyoshi tells a little about itself, her creative path and in particular on the manga "Portrait".

вышедшей манга "Портрет". Midorikawa Tsuyoshi расскажет немного о себе, своем творческом

пути и в частности о манга "Портрет".
После презентации манга "Портрет" будет проведена автограф-сессия!
